StuderaEkonomi is a leading platform for online teaching in economics and business administration. Our primary mission is to help economics students achieve their desired study results. We also teach non-students through our own online courses and conduct corporate events with customized staff training in economics-related topics.

About me
I am a 27-year-old national and business economist from Gothenburg living in Barcelona. I am driven by creating companies as a solution to the societal problems I think are important. One of these is the substandard teaching in universities, which results in a large percentage of economics students having difficulty completing their studies.
Others think I work constantly, while I consider it as leisure time. In addition to running StuderaEkonomi, I like to think about and write about philosophy. I meditate regularly, feel best when I’m in nature and consider myself a global citizen.
Academic qualifications
I have long been interested in understanding human behavior and well-being. When I started studying, I immediately fell in love with economics and throughout my studies I was one of the most enjoyable students, which is why I have consistently performed well.
I have 360 credits and a Master’s degree in Economics from the University of Gothenburg. During my third year, I studied two university programs at the same time to complete a bachelor’s degree in both economics and business administration. I have received top grades in most courses and have never failed an examination.
Other qualifications
- I have worked as a soccer referee for 10 years at the intermediate level and have instructed hundreds of novice referees.
- During my studies, I ran a think tank that published articles and podcasts on economics and ideology.
- I have run small-scale businesses where I coached job seekers, matched language teachers with students, and am driven to inspire people to meditate.

Background & Vision
StuderaEkonomi was founded in July 2023 by Elias Filhage Wahlström, a recent graduate in economics and business administration. The inspiration to create an educational platform came from the fact that Elias himself considered the substandard pedagogy at traditional universities to be a serious social problem.
Tens of thousands of economics students spend several of their most formative years studying at university. University pedagogy is largely limited to a disengaged professor who reads powerpoint slides aloud to get his teaching quota done, and it shows in the study results. Although the exams are often repetitive copies of a bunch of unsophisticated exam questions, it is common for 30-50% of students to fail year after year. Even those who pass the exam often have limited ability to apply what they have learned, as there is often a complete lack of labor market relevance and real-world examples.
Despite the low bar, conventional polytechnics are hardly better than universities. Attending a course with them often means a total absence of teachers and teaching is limited to the student completing a couple of online tests on their own without guidance. If you are lucky, there are a couple of recorded videos a disengaged teacher had to make a few years ago.
Traditional educational institutions spend a lot of public resources without imparting relevant knowledge to any meaningful extent. Given the circumstances, it is shocking that a small business like StudyEconomy can teach far better than multi-million dollar organizations, but that is what almost all of our 150 students say. StuderaEkonomi is an initiative that aims to give people the opportunity to learn for real. We take pedagogy seriously. Instead of basing teaching on the teacher’s time saving, we focus on the student’s needs. We replace reading powerpoints aloud from the stage with personalized teaching and real-life examples. We replace laziness with engagement. We don’t teach because we have to, we teach because it’s our passion.
StuderaEkonomi’s ambition is to establish itself as an alternative to traditional education centers, teaching economics-related subjects so that our students can apply valuable knowledge in their private lives and in the labor market.
